I got a few questions on Facebook Ads so I shot this video to show a real ad and what a buffer page is. There are a few things missing in my buffer page and I explain how this small site has potential to grow. I show where you should put an opt in form to start to capture emails. When the site develops you will have a nice list to communicate to and sell to. You should have sales in mind when starting a site. It is how you will pay for the site and hopefully make some money. You will want to find something that interest you and has enough people willing to buy in it as well.

Please leave comments and let me know what questions you have.

To continue with Facebook Ads I wanted to talk about the ability to target your buyers. By targeting your potential customers you will have a much higher conversion. Let us go back to the weight loss ad. This is a bit tougher to target in Facebook. What can you target in Facebook:

Location
College graduate
Favorite books
Favorite activities
Age
Relationship
Sex
Workplace

Going back to being the weight loss ads not many people are going to put down as an activity “loosing weight”. What you can do is start to target women in their mid 30s for instance. Women who have had children recently would be a good target for weight loss. Targeting men is a bit harder. You will have to have a different Ad all together. It might be better to target those who are buying “6 pack abs” and have something to the effect “still can’t see those 6 packs? Try our weight loss program that will have those 6 packs showing in no time.”

This does roll into another subject I will be talking about more. It is what motivates people to click on a button or to buy a product? There are a couple of thoughts out there and you have probably run across many in the past and may have employed these tactics yourself.

1.	What desires are people looking to fill
a.	Loose weight = look and feel good = have better relationships with oneself and others = create wealth

So we know that someone has clicked on the weight loss ad.

We have given them an answer that was promised (we have gained trust).

We now are in the offer and if you are an affiliate you will more then likely use the affiliate page.

Here are the two schools of thought.

1.	Have a sales page with triggers that work the emotions of the above.

Or you can use the give people more then they expect. You will still need to know what motivates a person. You will want to be able to resolve those issues that they want. Now you have a customer for life. You were able to help them where so many have not been able.

Some say both can be combined but I think the second will do a much better trick then the first. You can certainly use the first method but the second method had better be delivered. Have you bought something and feel you were taken advantage of and swindled out of your money? Would you buy from them again? Would you recommend anyone buy anything from him or her? My point is made.

Facebook gets more traffic a day then Google does. Tapping into this traffic can be tricky. People go to Google because they are looking for something and want to see websites with that product, information etc. People go to Facebook because they want to see what friends are up to and meet people. There are a few tricks to setting up a Facebook ad and really this information is good for almost all online sales efforts so let us get started.

What you want to do is have an ad that asks questions. Here is an example:

Have you tried everything to loose weight? (Like most people the answer is yes and we have failed)

Have a before and after shot (fat and then same person who lost weight)

Then follow up with there are a few things you can do right now to jump-start your weight loss. Find out how.

When people click on this take them to a one page, a landing page. Give them one thing – how to jump-start their weight loss. Maybe drink 8oz of water with fiber (psyllum and probiotics) 15 minutes before eating. This helps fill you up naturally and is also a great way to get your daily fiber and help create good bacteria in the gut to help with digestion. The good part about this easy and effective method to help you loose weight is that your stools do not smell anymore (or not as bad).

To finally loose weight click here and be free of food addiction and being fat for good.

Now take them to a sales page with whatever product you are selling.

The trick is to give people something that is of true benefit. You have gained there trust they now know you are going to sell them something ( by this point they know there is something for sale.)

On the actual sales page you may want to try and capture their name and email. If the information really has been of value then they will more then likely give you their name and email for further great information.

In the next article I will talk about targeting in Facebook and other such as Google. The beauty of Facebook is all the information that is available to you.

I will give a word of caution here. Facebook does not like all caps, or false information and people can actually click on an x in the ad box to not see it again. Facebook then asks a question like why do you not want to see this ad: offensive, not what it said etc.

Internet tools can help get the job done efficiently and cost effectively. I am going to be going over many tools that you can use in future posts, showing the plus and minus to each tool.

There are free tools and tools that cost money. Free is great but if you need to automate daily tasks that requires hours of manual labor chances are you will not find a free tool. There could be a great low cost alternative though.

Some tools require a huge learning curve and are not very intuitive at first. They are just massive software programs with a large cost of both time and money. I will usually give low cost alternatives to these if you are just looking for a few features. I think Photoshop is a great example. I use it for my photography extensively but for putting a little banner ad together there are much more cost effect and easy to use tools.

Now on to the disclaimer with tools. As with all things you can spend too much time looking and analyzing and you really need to just get out there and do it. We can over analyze something, I cannot do design. I love design but really everything I put together looks terrible. I will spend countless hours trying. Is this a good utilization of my time? No, find something that gets the job done and start making sales. This is what it is all about. If you are looking to grow a mailing list, get leads, make sales or just inform (and have advertisements) you need to see were you are sinking your time and make sure it is in the right place. There is no tool for this. (I will be making one though ☺ ).

There are many ways to do something and different tools will highlight different approaches.

Some of the things we will be looking at in a tool is

Cost – out of pocket expense
Value – does it do what it says it will do and is there value to it
Ease of use – do I have to sit in hours of training and is that training worth my time and expense
ROI – return on investment this will be harder because people have different goals
How to use the tool – a video tutorial on at least the basics of how to use a software.

A couple more ideas to keep in mind. 1 you don’t have to do everything outsource part of the job maybe a good idea. Here are a couple of scenarios.

If you have one product maybe paying someone who does keyword research for SEO and a SEM instead of learning the fine arts of keyword research is a good starting point. Keywords are what will drive your entire online marketing efforts so it is an important step. For those who will pay someone but knows there are 1000s of keywords in your niche say, car dealer, then you may want to invest in some keyword tools and continue to learn while you use the keywords you currently have identified for your SEO, SEM and internet marketing efforts.

Bookmark & Share

Internet Marketing has come a little ways over the past few years. Twitter to .ning to SEO is whitehat, balckhat or greyhat can I write a blog and post to other sites, the questions are endless. The first question you want to ask about internet marketing is what is the goal? It sounds simple but lets go through a few items:

Do you want to collect names and emails?

Do you want solid leads with more information – name, email and phone number

Is it to make a sales?

Sign up for a monthly newsletter

So you have a goal. You want a lead and a hot one!

Now what are you going to do? There are a few more questions to ask?

Keywords Why Choosing The Right One Is Important

What is the keyword you are going to target (and we will stay with one for now).

This keyword will be used for almost all your online efforts so it is important to pick the right one.

How does one pick the right keyword a quick run down

Does the keyword have high traffic

Does the keyword have low competition

Does the keyword have commerciality (are these people buyers or are they just window shopping)

What type of keyword is this (is it highly targeted or a general term)

This is a large topic and we will be discussion it further. Keywords will be used in your on site webpage content, title tags, etc. They will be used in your off site link building efforts and your Internet marketing efforts.

PPC For Internet Marketing

Are you going to run a PPC campaign? Is this keyword expensive and not profitable? Maybe you can find another keyword that will bring as many buyers but at a better cost.

Internet Marketing Tracking

You need to track your Internet marketing efforts. Facebook might be a great place for say a bachelor party business but may not be the place for say a bunion website. (ok these are extremes but I am trying to make a point). We all have limited resources. If have say 5 hours for Facebook, Twitter and a blog and you find from tracking that 90% of paying customers are coming from Twitter and you are only putting in 1/2 hour on Twitter you may want to reallocate resources. Tracking is a more accurate and unbiased approach to finding out this information.

Link Building

Link building is a very important aspect in getting rankings. You need to be realistic in your efforts. Going for the term mortgage when you are a small company in Iowa may not be the best utilization of your efforts or money. There is ppc for this (costly) but the cost associated with a term like mortgage (a general and broad term) in SEO is very, very expensive. You can use different sets of keywords for different operations but if you are going for organic it is best to stick to the one (or few) and see the consistent results.
